How to Care – Fleuristes

How to Care

In order to extend the life of your floral arrangement, below you will find a few helpful tips on how to care for your flowers.
If you have any questions concerning the care of your fresh flowers, give us a call!

Hand-tied Bouquet of Cut Flowers

Temperature

Place your arrangement in a cool room, being sure to keep it away from direct light or extremes in heat or cold.

Water

Hand tied bouquets have stems that are left open or individually water tubed, depending on the variety. Either treatment will keep your bouquet fresh and healthy for approximately 8 hours, though transferring to fresh water as soon as possible is recommend. Once at your final destination, give each stem a fresh cut (1 cm or more) and place in lukewarm water.

Care

Give your flowers a fresh cut and change the water every day or two to maintain your flowers as long as possible.

Arrangement in Water

Temperature

Water

Change the vase’s water, using lukewarm water, every day or two will help your arrangement stay bright and vibrant for as long as possible.

Care

Arrangement in Floral Foam

Temperature

Place your arrangement in a cool room, being sure to keep it away from direct light or extremes in heat or cold.

Water

Before leaving the shop, the floral foam used to hold the flowers was soaked in water. Since the foam will dry out, be sure to water daily using room temperature water.

Care

The container is usually full of floral foam, making the water level difficult to see. Place the arrangement over a sink, add water until full, and then dry the container with a towel.

Poinsettia Plants

Temperature

Poinsettias are very sensitive to extreme temperatures and do not like the cold. Insure to place your plant far from a draft or an exterior door.

Water

Water only when the soil feels dry to the touch. Take the plant out of the basket or potcover and place it in a sink. Soak the plant all the way through until water comes through drainage holes, being sure to wipe away any excess water before returning it to the basket or potcover. Standing water can cause the leaves to droop or wilt, so insure no water remains in the bottom of the potcover.

Care

Keep your plant in moderate temperatures, while keeping the leaves away from cold windowpanes and vents. Check your plant’s soil once or twice a week.
